Successful ShinnDig Fundraising Event for TBCH

Home / Blog / Successful ShinnDig Fundraising Event for TBCH

Recently, my wife, Denise, and I hosted the Grand ShinnDig for Kids, a fundraising event to benefit the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes (TBCH). What a great time we had—sharing our home with old and new friends while showcasing this remarkable ministry.

One of our goals in hosting this event was to shine the spotlight on TBCH, their needs, and the work they are doing. We believe in this ministry so much that we are committed to help them help kids. I feel certain that the ShinnDig accomplished our objective. Our guests walked away from the event with a greater understanding and appreciation for the work TBCH does across the state. My prayer is that the connections made and relationships begun at the ShinnDig are seeds that will produce fruit in this ministry for years to come.

Some observations from our guests in their own words:

“I loved that event, honestly it was well done and fun- kudos.” — Brian Barry, publisher, Nashville Lifestyles magazine

“The Grand ShinnDig was by far one of the finest charity events I have attended in years. George and Denise Shinn’s home and property was the perfect setting. The food was excellent, and the event for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes was outstanding.” — Hope Hines, television sports personality

Some fun numbers from our Grand ShinnDig for Kids:

More than $200,000 raised (with more commitments being received daily)

191 guests attended

13 children from TBCH served as ambassadors and guests of honor

66 degrees with a 6:09 p.m. sunset—a beautiful autumn evening in middle Tennessee

400+ photos snapped

And more sweet tea poured and BBQ served than anyone could count!

A special thanks to our ShinnDig for Kids host committee members for their hard work. Make sure you take a look at the photo gallery for more pictures from the event.
