ABOUT

The George Shinn Foundation is dedicated to helping people in need. It is committed to building God’s kingdom and reflecting its founder’s deep Christian faith by furthering the work of churches, ministries, missionaries, and non-profit organizations.

After his diagnosis and successful treatment of prostate cancer, George Shinn created The Shinn Foundation as a way to extend his resources to others.

The George Shinn Foundation is dedicated to making a difference among the people it serves. By providing for basic needs, answering calls for help in times of crisis, and equipping ministers, The Foundation aims to offer the love of Christ and the hope of the Gospel to those who suffer.

2019 brought the dedication of the George Shinn Center at Lipscomb University. The dedication of the center marked the epicenter of the George Shinn College of Entertainment and the Arts which provides students the ability to grow as believer artists. Lipscomb University’s foundation of faith-based education made the partnership with the George Shinn Foundation a natural collaboration.

George Shinn partnered with Under the Bridge Ministries to host their 2019 Homecoming feeding the needy and Homeless “Under The Bridge”  while sharing an encouraging message of hope and faith.  When tornados ravaged parts of Nashville in 2020, The George Shinn Foundation stepped in to donate funds again to Bridge Ministries to continue their efforts to serve an even greater number of individuals while still serving the homeless throughout the Nashville community.

One of The Foundation’s most important outreach efforts to date, The George Shinn Foundation Clinic in Haiti, was officially dedicated in May 2013. The Foundation has a long-standing partnership with organizations working to rebuild Haiti after the devastating 2010 earthquake and has contributed to projects there including serving a school, orphanage, and church complex to the poor in Port-au-Prince. The George Shinn Foundation Clinic is a multi-story urgent care medical clinic.

The George Shinn Foundation funds the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home Foster Care program by contracting with Tennessee’s Department of Children’s Services to provide certified foster families for children in state custody. The program carefully selects evangelical Christian couples to serve as foster parents, so children placed in their homes are cared for physically as well as spiritually.
